The Exhibition is located on the Ground Floor of the Spadolini Hall in the exhibition centre of Fortezza da Basso.

With its 11,000 m² and with more than 800 artists from 74 countries, the Biennial of Florence is the largest exhibition of Contemporary Art in the world. Inside it has Theatre Areas that are filled every day with Concerts, Conferences, Performances and the active presence of all artists.

This year, among the various collateral events, the Biennial will host the Ars Electronica Centerof Linz, an advanced centre in the field of Virtual Art and all of its applications, and it will award the prestigious "Lorenzo il Magnifico" award to two artists Gilbert & George with the presence of the manager of the exhibitions of the White Cube Gallery of London, Tim Marlow.

On Saturday 8th December the association Artists for Human Rights with its Founder, the actress Anne Archer, will present a special prize to the Biennial for its commitment in cultural dialogue.

The objective of the Biennial is to diffuse, without any economic, social, cultural, current or style barriers and prejudices, the artistic nature of all populations throughout the world. This is why it belongs to the United Nations programme "Dialogue among civilisation" since 2001.
